2024 Sustainability Report: Growth, Innovation, and Commitment to the Ecological Transition
09/09/2025 - 14:31
Ghella publishes its 2024 Sustainability Report, reaffirming its commitment to combining economic development, environmental responsibility, and shared value for the communities in which it operates.
Despite a globally uncertain landscape, in 2024 Ghella advanced numerous national and international projects aimed at supporting decarbonization policies, ecological transition, and climate change adaptation — from sustainable mobility to the development of photovoltaic plants, and the construction of strategic water infrastructure.
Across its construction sites, best practices were adopted such as the use of renewable energy and biofuels, in line with the company’s target of reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030. Circular economy principles were also promoted, through the reuse of excavated earth and the recovery of nearly all non-hazardous waste.
“In an era marked by strong geopolitical tensions that risk overshadowing the urgency of environmental challenges,” said Vice President Federico Ghella, “Ghella remains committed to forging a responsible path toward a better future.”
The health and safety of people continue to be a top priority: 2024 saw a significant reduction in workplace accidents, thanks to strengthened prevention and training policies.
Ghella’s focus on ESG criteria enabled the company to secure a range of diversified sustainability-linked loans, a testament to the strength of the path undertaken and the growing integration between business performance and environmental and social impact. In 2024, the company generated approximately €1.3 billion in economic value, harmoniously redistributed among stakeholders — employees, suppliers, Public Administration, and local communities.
2024 also marks the 130th anniversary of the company’s founding — a milestone that reflects the continuity of an entrepreneurial tradition capable of evolving and meeting today’s challenges with vision and responsibility, while always looking to the future.
