Construction of the Euclide underground station in line with the widening of the railway line between the Pzl Flaminio station and Pk 10+366

During the afterwar, in order to minimise blue collar unemployment, one of the biggest works to be financed by the roman city council, was the widening to double track of the the Rome - Viterbo Railway Line in its urban stretch.
The contract included the widening of an existing tunnel from Acqua Acetosa to Flaminio for a length of 2000mts during normal operation. It also included the construction of a new tunnel and an underground station at Euclide.
The widening of the tunnel has been done through reinforcement of the existing then envelopment of the new above, without ever stopping normal operation.  Overall 62028mc of underground material has been excavated.  A modern batch plant has been built purposely for this project, in continuous search of technologies and innovation.
