Napoli-Bari Itinerary, section Cancello - Frasso Telesino

Part of the Trans European Network (TEN-T) and included in the Scandinavian - Mediterranean Corridor, the Naples-Bari High Speed Railway requalification project is part of the "Unblock Italy" law.
The contract stretch consists in the widening of the historical line, continuing parallel to it for 9km from the Frasso Telesino existing station towards Naples. Another 6km section includes a new double track alignment with 4 tunnels. Overall the entire section is of ca 16km, of which 3 of viaducts and 4 of natural bored tunnels, for a project speed to reach 180km/h, with a max inclination of 13/000. The project also includes two new stations: Valle di Maddaloni and Dugenta - Frasso Telesino. Once complete the travel time between the cities will be decreased of 1h40m, taking only 2h.
The Naples - Bari transversal axe has a key role in the development of southern Italy, and it will allow to reconnect two areas that alone reach more than 40% of the entire market production of Southern Italy. The new line will also drastically decrease CO2 emissions and transfer, within 2030, 30% of the mercantile transport from roads to trains reaching a 50% by 2050.
