Lorenzo Peila selected as finalist in the category Young Tunneller of the Year at the ITA Tunnelling awards 2022

We are proud to announce that Lorenzo Peila, Senior Project Engineer, has been selected as finalist in the category Young Tunneller of the Year, at the ITA Tunnelling Awards 2022. This has been a tight competition, with 64 entries received in total. The Young Tunneller of the Year rewards an individual born after 1986 and who has made an active contribution to tunnelling. This is the third year in a row that one of Ghella’s young talents is shortlisted amongst the finalists.
Lorenzo has graduated at the Politecnico di Torino where he obtained both his Bachelor and MSc in Civil Engineering. Lorenzo’s experience in the tunneling industry counts almost 7 years of activity. In the past years he has been involved in two of the most important and challenging tunnelling projects in the world: Follo Line Project and Brenner Base Tunnel. Lorenzo stared as a young engineer in Oslo, and thanks to his commitment, just after a few years later, he became the TBM Superintendent of one of the three TBMs on the Brenner Base Tunnel Project. Today Lorenzo is taking part in the Tender phase of the Lyon-Turin railway Base Tunnel in the technical Department, overseeing also environmental and sustainability aspects on which the company always pays particular attention.
