Sydney Metro City & Southwest Awarded Tunnelling Project Of The Year at the NCE Tunnelling Festival 2020

It’s with great pride and pleasure that we announce that on the 16th of December the John Holland CPB Ghella Joint Venture (JHCPBG) has been awarded TUNNELLING PROJECT OF THE YEAR (over €500M) at the New Civil Engineer Tunnelling Festival 2020 for the Sydney Metro City & Southwest Project.

This prize showcases the very best in tunneling expertise and brings together the entire tunnelling community for an interactive and immersive day filled with case studies, debates and future project updates but also the Tunnelling Awards.

The Sydney Metro City & Southwest Project is Australia’s largest and most enviable public transportation project which will transform the heart of Australia’s most densely populated city delivering more trains and faster services across the network. JHCPBG project consists of 15.5km twin tunnels, 6 new station excavations and multiple complex caverns. The project was delivered with minimal impact on the community and traffic network, industry leading sustainability innovations and especially with safety.

Ghella would like to thank you its partners, John Holland and CPB, and especially Ghella’s team with whom we share this incredible and outstanding achievement.
