Renny digging the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension has broken through the final wall

Our last tunnel boring machine (TBM) on the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project has officially completed its 6.3-km journey from Renforth Drive to our extraction shaft, just west of Scarlett Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

This major milestone marks the completion for tunnelling on this scope of the project as both TBMs have reached their finish line.

The ECWE project is a 9.2-kilometre extension of the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit project. The extension will run from the future Mount Dennis station to Renforth Drive. The system will have connections to several local and regional transit services, including Union Pearson Express and Kitchener GO train lines, GO bus routes, and local TTC and Mississauga MiWay bus services. Plans are also being explored to connect ECWE to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
