World Tunnel Congress 2019, Ghella awarded with two prizes

Great success for the Italian edition of the World Tunnel Congress, the most important event for tunneling, which has been held last week in Naples. The event, promoted by the Italian Tunnel Society (SIG) and the International Tunneling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES), made Naples the world's capital of underground infrastructure for a week, with more than 2,500 people of the industry coming from over 60 countries, and strong participation of young people under 35 (20% of the total).
Ghella presented to the general audience two papers, one by Giovanni Giacomin, “Pavoncelli Bis water tunnel: Tunnel Boring Machine selection and safety standards for excavating in presence of methane”, and one by Paolo Pediconi, “The challenging yet successful excavation of the TBM tunnel for the Athens Metro Line 3, Extension Haidari-Piraeus”.
It has been for Ghella a great source of pride receiving two amazing recognitions within the WTC: the gold medal for the best E-Poster presentation, a digital article titled “Excavating through hard rock formations with  the TBM: technical challenges of the Follo Line Project” presented by Massimo Maffucci.
Last but not least, our Company received the award for Best Eco-Friendly Booth of the WTC 2019: the award has been granted for the ability to express the excellence of our sector, and emphasize the beauty of nature, which the tunneling world faces every day.
We want to thank once again the Organizing Committee for such an extremely interesting event, and we look forward to join the WTC 2020 in Kuala Lumpur.
