Follo Line Project: 50% of Excavation is completed

Norway, Oslo. At the Follo Line Project, Ghella in Joint Venture with the spanish company Acciona, has now reached an important milestone: the 4 TBMs have excavated 50 percent of the tunnels. This results in 18 000 meters bored to date since Eufemia, the first TBM, started its journey in September last year.

The first TBM launched, Eufemia, has excavated 5,3 kilometers, 60 percent of her way to Oslo, and Ellisiv is following 150 meters behind. Both machines are ahead of schedule and will reach Oslo within Summer 2018. The following two TBMs, Anna and Magda, are working nonstop towards Ski, and are well on schedule. They have excavated respectively 3,8 (42%) and 3,6 kilometers (ca 40%).

There will always be challenges in such a huge TBM-project, with extremely hard rock and some weakness zones, but production is stable, and future prospects are good. When the TBMs will have completed their journey, the work will proceed with the construction/installation of the required railway technology.

We have reached an impressive milestone. The cooperation between Bane NOR and AGJV is rewarding and developing, and our progress is excellent. It’s important to remember that it is less than 14 months since we started the first TBM “- says the project manager for the TBM excavation in Bane NOR, Anne Kathrine Kalager - “I would like to thank the AGJV-team for your hard work. It is a project in good shape and I am really proud of our team and the good collaboration with BaneNor. We have been able to manage the project in a proper way. Our ambition is to be on schedule and on budget.”
